Volunteering
at The Depot
|
To continue its growth in providing
cultural experiences for the region, The Sikeston Depot thrives
on two important resources -- people and money!
If you have interest in providing
either, please respond through the "Questions and Comments" function
of this website or by calling the resources listed below.
Volunteering opportunities are
many and varied:
A cadre of more than 80 volunteers
staff the reception area during all hours of operation -- greeting
visitors, explaining exhibits, and assuring that everyone has a
pleasant experience. Pairs of volunteers typically work from 10
a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you would like to help,
please contact Volunteer Coordinator Dianne Jarvis at 471-1914 for
a brief training session and subsequent scheduling.
Developing new and ongoing exhibits
to portray the Sikeston area's history is a labor of love for many
-- researching, planning, and mounting the exhibits has become increasingly
important. Writers, designers, and anyone with a love of our heritage
is welcome to participate. Contact Mike at 481-9967.
The Depot's collection of historically
important artifacts is growing and needs to be carefully catalogued
and preserved. Call The Depot at 481-9967

Opportunities at The Depot
|
To make sure The Depot's doors
stay open and programs keep growing, funds are constantly needed.
Contributors at the $500 and above
level are recognized on a Donor Recognition Wall in the reception
area, but all donations are most gratefully appreciated.
Donors have several ways to participate:
Restricted funds have been set up
for capital improvements and for endowment. Our 90+ year-old building
requires continued restoration and renovation; our endowment provides
ongoing income for general operations. Please contact your financial
advisor to determine the best ways for you to consider a lasting
gift for these purposes.
Clubs and companies are invited
to be Depot Sponsors for annual gifts of $250 or more. And, sponsors
are needed to underwrite special exhibits and receptions.
"Friends
of The Depot" is a growing club of supporters providing
annual support of $25 or more. "Friends"
receive our periodic newsletter and invitations to all special exhibits
and events, along with the good feelings that come with making a
worthwhile contribution.
A small but growing gift shop offers
the chance to purchase Depot and museum memorabilia including but
not limited to postcards, Christmas ornaments, note cards, and miniature
cotton bales. Proceeds go to Depot operations. Also, while The Depot
has a free admission policy, there's a small red caboose by the
front door where free-will contributions are gladly accepted!
For more information on any of the
above means of funding please contact
